58th Academic Quarter

This year the traditional students’ running relay Academic Quarter will be raced in Espoo on Friday 23rd May. The start is at 18.15 and the route goes around the sports park "Tapiolan urheilupuisto" (Urheilupuistontie 2, Espoo). The runners can came and pick their running numbers starting from 17.30.
 
The Academic Quarter is a traditional students' running relay. It has been organized already 57 times. The winner of the relay is the team that runs the furthest in 15 minutes. The running or running fast is not always the main point. The Academic Quarter is also a little carnival where teams have different costumes. The costumes can express some ideology or for example the student union and it's activity.
 
There are three different categories from which a team can choose. In a team there can be 5-7 runners, depending on how fast the team is.
 
The categories
Kilpasarja / The Real Runners: For the ones who really want to run and compete. Usually these runners have competed in the previous years as well.

Wapaa Wartti / The Free Quarter: In this category the winning is not the main goal. The reason for coming to the event is to have fun.

"Sikariporras" / "The Cigar Club": This category is for the ones who are not students anymore but still want to join this event.
 
Signing in
To sign in send email to [email protected] on the 19.5. the latest. In the message write the following details of your team: Team name, student union (in which you are a member), the category of the relay, the contact information of the team leader (name, email, phone number).
 
Participation fee
Pay the participation fee to a bank account 158330-44161 on the 19.5. the latest. In the message part of the bill write the name of your team and the name of your team leader.
The members of the Finnish Student Sport Federation 20€ per team, others 60€. (Helsinki University of Technology is a member of the Finnish Student Sport Federation.)

NOTE: It isn’t possible to sign in after 19th May!
