Harassment Contact Persons
If a student feels, that he or she has encountered any discrimination at the Helsinki University of Technology based on gender, age, origin, language, religion, conviction, opinion, health, disability or some other personal reason, he or she can contact the TKK’s or TKY’s harassment contact person.
The harassment contact persons support and help when students feel that they are subjected to harassment, sexual harassment or other types of discrimination. The most typical situation of harassment is in private tutoring and in other close contact situations. Even though it may feel difficult to bring this subject up, it is important for your own and the entire work and study community’s wellbeing.
The TKK’s harassment contact person is lawyer Tanja Vuolle. You can contact her by phone and by email at: [email protected], tel: +358 (0) 9 4511 2025.
The TKY’s harassment contact persons are the Secretary of Social Affairs, Liisa Lähteenaho and the Secretary of Teekkari Culture, Mika Tarhala (both are best available by email, [email protected]).
The harassment contact persons wish that people would dare to discuss and tell about harassment and discrimination. They are happy to listen, and when necessary, they can take matters forward. Students can contact any of the harassment contact persons. For instance, it might be easier to discuss sexual harassment with a person of the same gender.
