From airport to Helsinki center
The airport for Helsinki metropolitan area is located in Vantaa and it is called Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL). The cheapest way to travel from there is to use public transportation. Bus number 615 runs 2-4 times in an hour, from 6 am to 1 am at night from the airport to Helsinki city center. A single ticket costs 3,80 euros and it is valid for 80 minutes for transfer to other buses. The trip takes about 35-40 minutes. There is also a Finnair bus, but it is more expensive and the ticket has no right for transfer. The bus 615 arrives beside the railway station ("Elielinaukio") and for buses to Otaniemi you will have to walk to the Kamppi bus terminal.
A taxi from the airport to Otaniemi costs approx. 30 €. Yellow line taxi is a little cheaper, 22 € for 2-3 people.

From Helsinki to Otaniemi
All buses to Espoo and Otaniemi leave from the Kamppi bus terminal ("Kampin keskus", see the map above). Bus 102 runs to the TKK main building and then to the student village, bus 103 only to the TKK main building and then to Pohjois-Tapiola. If you want to get off at the TKK main building for example to pick up your apartment keys from the TKY Secretariat, ask the bus driver to drop you at the TKK library bus stop. The bus ride from Helsinki to the TKK campus and student village takes about 15-20 minutes.
Around Otaniemi
Tapiola
Many useful services and shops are located in Tapiola, one of the urban centers of Espoo. Tapiola is very close to Otaniemi, half an hour walk or approx. 5 minutes by bus. Buses 2, 4, 10, 15 go from the student village to Tapiola, and beside the main library there are also buses 194, 195, 510 and 550.
Leppävaara
Sello, one of the biggest shopping centres in Helsinki region with more than 160 shops, is located in Leppävaara. Buses 52, 510 and 550 travel to Leppävaara from Otaniemi, from the TKK library bus stop.
