Aalto University visual identity contest for the Aalto community

Aalto University Foundation is organizing a visual identity contest for students, staff and alumni concerning the visual identity of Aalto University. The contest is organized in cooperation with the Association of Professional Graphic Designers in Finland (Grafia), the Finnish Association of Designers (Ornamo) and the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA). The contest period is March 2 – April 17, 2009.
Aim and purpose of contest
The purpose of the contest is to produce the basic elements for the visual identity of Aalto University. The aim is that the new identity will emerge from the community and portray the aims of a world-class university.
The panel of judges
The panel of judges comprises representatives and experts in the field from Aalto University as well as its three universities, Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TaiK) and Helsinki University of Technology (TKK). An international member is also included. The panel of judges will appoint a Chair from among themselves.
The members of the panel of judges are PredisentTuula Teeri (Aalto University), Professor Henrikki Tikkanen (HSE), Professor Jukka Vieno (TaiK), Professor Mervi Paulasto-Kröckel (TKK), Designer Bo Linnemann (Kontrapunkt, Denmark), AD Leena Periaho (appointed by Grafia), and Architect and Graphic Designer Tuomas Siitonen (appointed by Ornamo and SAFA).
The winning entries will be announced on May 5, 2009. The visual image of Aalto University will be published on September 1, 2009.
