Administration and Decision Making
The administration of the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) follows a sc. principle of tripartition. This means that the following groups are represented in its administration
-university professors and associate professors
-other lecturers, researches and other staff members
-students
None of these groups may exceed more than a half of the number of members in any administrative body.
Halopeds, meaning the student representatives in administration, bring forth the voice of students in the dozens of various committees in TKK. The presence of students is important because we are the ones with experience on educational affairs! During the last years, the halopeds have participated in drafting the new degree structure, commented on student numbers and reminded of the importance of a functioning digital study planning system. All students have the opportunity of influencing the administrative decisions through their faculty’s student representative. You can contact them directly, if you want to.
