TKY

International Student Tutoring

TKY provides tutorial activities for its international exchange and degree students. TKY organises a student tutor, in Finnish a kv-ISO, for all its exchange students. We also aim to organise a kv-ISO for the degree students if there are enough tutors. The student tutoring of international students is called kv-ISOtoiminta.

The purpose of kv-ISO activities is to help new, international students during their first steps in Finland and to help them to integrate into Finnish society and student life. The kv-ISO can, for example, meet the new student at the airport and take care of any necessary issues with the international student, such as visiting the registry office. Additionally, the kv-ISO takes the international student with him/her to the activities which are part of student life; guild activities are one of the most important ones. The guilds are student associations of certain fields of studies which organise, among other things, activities and company visits and they also cooperate with the TKK in educational affairs.

How to get a kv-ISO?

If you are coming to study at the University of Technology as an exchange or degree student, you will receive information on kv-ISO activities along with your acceptance letter. The person in charge of kv-ISO activities divides the international students into groups before their arrival in Finland and thus every kv-ISO receives their own group for tutoring. Your kv-ISO will contact you before your arrival in Finland and you can arrange with your tutor where you will meet each other. If for some reason you did not receive e-mail from your kv-ISO a few days before your arrival, you can e-mail to [email protected].
