Sporting Places and Services in Otaniemi

Otahalli

Otahalli is a versatile sporting centre owned partially by the TKK and the TKY.

The TKK organizes sporting activities for teekkaris at the Otahalli, for instance ball game series and other various sports. There are times for football, basketball, athletics, badminton and floorball. There are also various sorts of aerobics, fitness gym and courses at the Otahalli. Most of these activities are for free. There is more detailed information on these at sporting guide and sporting calendar. In addition to these, the Otahalli is providing scheduled times for badminton, tennis and floorball for student prices, every weekday from 9 am to 4 pm.

The university also has in its use a multipurpose facility at the Otahalli. The facility contains two table tennis tables, punching bags and music equipment. Small groups or individual teekkaris can use the facility for free when it is available. Reserved times can be found from the sporting calendar.

The Otahalli also features the Blue Fitness gym. Teekkaris have the possibility of purchasing gym cards for a discount. More information from Blue Fitness’ staff, tel: +358 (0) 9 4555 233.

Sports ground

Otaranta has a sports ground owned by the city of Espoo. The sports ground offers opportunities for athletic sports. It was renovated in 2005 to serve as a practising ground for the World Championships in Athletics, so it is in excellent condition. Next to the sports grounds there are tennis and street basket courts. In winters the grounds are frozen for an ice-skating rink.

Miinusmaa kyykkä field

The two-field kyykkä stadium constructed by Äpy is located opposite Sähkö between Otakaari and the sea. You can make reservations for the fields to a folder at the TKY’s secretariat’s equipment loaning closet. Using the fields is free of charge. 

Beach-volley court

There is a beach-volley court in free use next to Miinusmaa. The court cannot be reserved.

Multipurpose facility

The multipurpose facility is an elongated space primarily for dancing. It has a parquet floor, wall of mirrors and stereo player. Further information from here.

Tatami hall

The tatami hall is a small space suitable for practising martial arts, with a floor partially covered with tatami mats. Further information from here.
