Student Union History
The history
of the teekkaris is long and
colourful. There have been teekkaris
in Finland
since 1849, when the first students started their work in the Helsinki Modern
School of Technology.
The history of the Student Union of the Helsinki University of Technology began
in 1872 when an association called Teknologföreningen
was founded. During the years the teekkari
associations reformed and were renamed as language conflicts tore the
community apart and as the Helsinki Modern School of Technology turned via many
phases into the Helsinki University of Technology.
