Academic freedom and responsibility

The notion of academic freedom includes an idea of freedom to study and do research, the freedom to choose one’s own studies, pace of studies and ways of studying. No one can make these decisions for you.

One of the most central ideas in academic freedom is academic responsibility. The university has an obligation to arrange tuition in such a way, that it is possible to obtain a degree in the target time. Additionally, the tuition must be based on up-to-date research.

Correspondingly, students have their own responsibilities. Students are responsible for their own studies, and a student must attempt to study responsibly by taking other people into account. Students are also responsible of the scientific community and its functionality. A student can influence tuition by giving feedback on courses. On many courses, you can give course feedback by an online form.
