Examinations
Examination arrangements
A student shall register for an examination one week before the examination unless the teacher accepts later registration. Registration is considered as participation in an examination unless it has been cancelled one week before the beginning of an examination. A student who has failed an examination three times shall negotiate with the relevant teacher on completing the course.
The examination does not begin until the supervisor of the examination gives the permission. It is now allowed to go through the examination papers before that. A student can come to the examination until 60 minutes has passed from the nominal starting time and leaving is possible when 65 minutes has passed.
Generally speaking the examinee can have with him or her writing instruments and an identification card. Other permitted equipments (e.g. calculator) are mentioned separately.A person taking part in an examination is obliged to provide proof of identification when requested.
Examinations results
The teacher is obliged to ensure that information on accepted study attainments, and if possible main evaluation criteria, are posted on the noticeboard (a traditional noticeboard or an electronic noticeboard) within one month of the date of an examination. For special reasons, the Head of the Department may grant an extension of this period (Degree Regulations §59).
This section applies to all prestations; examinations, essays, practical works and so on.
If the results are late, you can inquire after them from the teacher in charge of the course, for example by email. If you do not get a reply, you can report about the delay of the results to us.
The best way to do it is to fill a web form. Failing that you may send an email to the address opintoasiat(a)tky.fi. The message should include the course name and code, the name of the teacher in charge, when the exam was held, and how much the results are late. All the information sent to us is confidential and thus your privacy is respected.
To avoid false reports, we recommend you to inquire after how the teacher is going to publish the results (by email / on the notice board / on the web page).
Dishonest behavior and plagiarism
An examination can be interrupted and the student immediately removed from the examination room by the supervisor if a student is found guilty of fraudulent practice during the course of examination, and the student will be disqualified. Likewise, if fraudulent practice is discovered later, the student is to be disqualified. Even other types of study prestations are to be disqualified if the student can be proved guilty of fraudulent practice when performing it.
